Compare 1587 edition: 1 The .xviij. of May the Regent made procla|matiõ, that the inhabitãts of the ſhyres of Mer|nes, Angus, Fife, Mers, Louthian, Kile and Carrick, ſhoulde prouide themſelues of vitailes for .xv. dayes, and to meete him at Begger the tenth of Iune, to ride with him into the South|weſt partes of Scotlande, to chaſtiſe certayne theeues and other diſobedient perſons.

The army being aſſembled contey|ned a .iiij. or .v. thouſand horſemen very wel ap|pointed beſide a thouſande footemen, gunners and Halberdiers, of boyes and yong men that went with the cariage, there were aboute foure thouſande.
