Compare 1587 edition: 1 Iohn Ballyoll repenteth himKing Iohn incontinently herewith, became repentaunt, in that he had indaungered hymſelfe thus by doing his homage: and thervpon ſent his ambaſſadours to king Edward, as then ſoior|ning at London, to renounce his acte touching the ſame homage, alledging that forſomuche as it was done without the aduiſe of the three eſta|tes of Scotland, it was of no force [...], and not meete to be obſerued.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 The anſwere of king Ed|warde to the Scottiſh am|baſſadours.King Edward aunſwered theſe ambaſſadors thus: Sith we perceiue your king will not come vnto vs, we intend ſhortly to come vnto him. Herewith alſo he depriued him according to the maner, (ſo farrefoorth as mighte bee done in hys abſence) of all his kingly authoritie.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 And the better to accompliſh his purpoſed in|tention againſt the Scots, he founde meanes to conclude a peace with the king of Fraunce, and for the more confirmation of the ſame peace, the Frenche kings daughter was giuen in mariage to king Edward his ſon, neuertheleſſe (as ſayth the Scottiſh Chronicle) he purpoſed (when hee had wrought his will once againſt the Scottes) to inuade France as fiercely as before, notwith|ſtanding any bonde of amitie, or maryage by him contracted.
