Compare 1587 edition: 1 Thus whileſt the kings of the Scottes and Pictes were concluding a league togither for de|fence of themſelues and theyr countreys, certaine Scottes entred into the confines of Kyle, Car|rike and Coningham,The Scots ſlea the Romaine ſouldiers, ly|ing in certaine garriſons. & wanne diuers fortreſſes, wherein certain garriſons of Romaine ſouldiers foiourned, whom they ſlewe downe right with|out al mercie, ſpoyling the whole countrey.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Agricola hauing knowledge hereof, wente ſtreight waies thither with a power, and purſu|ing them that had done thoſe iniuries, ſome hee tooke amongſt the hilles and mountaynes, whi|ther they were fledde,

Agricola re|pulſing the Scottes, could not yet winne the caſtell of Dunbreton, aunciently called Awld|luch, or Al|cluth.

and the reſidue hee chaſed beyond the riuer of Clyde, but the caſtel of Dun|bryton hee coulde not by any meanes obtaynes though he aſſayed to winne it euen to the vtter|moſt of his power. It was called in thoſe dayes Alcluth that is to meane: all ſtone.
