Compare 1587 edition: 1 Vnto theſe alſo hauing great liuings aſſigned them, were the inferiour prieſts ſubiect, as recey|uing at their handes all iniunctions & orders for the vſe of their ſacrifices and other ceremonies.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Theſe Druides afterwardes applied thẽſelues ſo earneſtly to the ſtudie of Philoſophy, aſwell naturall as morall, that they were had in no ſmall reuerence of the people, as they that were bothe accompted and knowen to be men of moſt perfect lyfe and innocencie:The authori|tie of the Druides in|creaſed. by meanes whereof theyr authoritie dayly ſo farre foorth increaſed, that finally iudgements in moſte doubtfull ma|ters were committed vnto their determinations, offenders by theyr diſcretion puniſhed, and ſuche as had well deſerued, accordingly by theyr ap|poyntments rewarded.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Moreouer ſuche as refuſed to obey theyr de|crees and ordinaunces, were by them excommu|nicate, ſo that no creature durſte once keepe companie with ſuch till they were reconciled a|gayne, & cleerely by the ſame Druides aſſoyled.
