Compare 1587 edition: 1 IN his place ſucceeded his brother Donald, a prince of far cõtrary nature and conditions, for he was free, curteous, and without al deceyte, more righteous than rigorous, & afore all things deſyrous that peace and concorde might proſper among his ſubiects. Neither bare he with offen|ders, but ſuche as were diſobedient agaynſt the lawes & wholſome ordinances of the realme, he cauſed to be duely puniſhed: finally he tooke ſuch order for reformation of things,Donald ſtudi|eth to reduce his ſubiectes vnto all ci|uilitie. that hee reduced his ſubiects as it had beene from a wylde and ſa|uage rudeneſſe, vnto a perfect ciuill trade of hu|manitie.
