Tharan king of the Pictes is ſlaine.

fled into hys countrey, but Tharan king of the Pictes, not co|ueting to liue after ſuch loſſe of his people, threw away his armor with al his kingly ornaments, & ſitting down vpon a ſtone, as a mã paſt himſelf, was there ſlain by ſuche as followed in the chaſe.

Wherevpon Veſpaſian comaunded that Aruiragus ſhould in priuate apparell come in vnto him, for he would not talke of any peace, except he had Aruiragus preſent, and therefore hee ſent vnto him his ſafe|conduct to aſſure him ſafe both to come and goe.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Aruiragus cõmeth in vn|to Veſpaſian. Aruiragus is reſtored again to his former dignitie.Aruiragus ſeeing no other remedie, came in vnto Veſpaſian, according to his appoyntment, and vpon his ſubmiſſion was pardoned of all his treſpaſſe, and placed againe in the kingdome.
