Christ is said to "rule from the Cross" and iconographically it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish at first sight between a crucifixion and a judgment. (See note to 34). Durham, Cathedral Library, A. ii. 17 fol. 38(3)v offers an interesting combination of a crucified Christ and a majestic Christ. London, British Library, Cotton Galba A. xvii, fol. 2v shows Christ in glory surrounded by the choirs of heaven and has the instruments of the passion behind His throne.
