" M&R interpret as "'(in) that he wanted to ascend onto me' , i.e. 'in his wish to ascend onto me'" see Û211, Û185.2 . This verse (or rather a mixture of this and 40b) is present in the runic inscription on the Ruthwell Cross where the clause is introduced by "þæ" and clearly is "when he wished . . . ".
