Compare 1587 edition: 1 The mariage of the Queene mother.This yeare the .vj. of Auguſt, the Queene maried Archebald Dowglas Erle of Angus, and immediately after in Saint Iohns towne tooke the great Seale from the biſhop of Glaſgew that was Chancellor of the realme.The great ſeal taken from the Biſhop of Glaſgew. Wherevpon the ſayde Byſhoppe got him to Edenbourgh, where many Lords aſſyſted him, & kept out the Queene and hir new huſbande, ſo that they might not en|ter there, whereof greate diſcorde roſe within the Realme amongeſt the Nobles and Peeres of the ſame.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 In the peace contracted betwixt Lewes the xij. of that name king of France,A peace con|cluded betwixt Englande and Fraunce. and Henrie the eight king of Englande, no mention was made of the Realme of Scotlande, for the whiche the Scottiſhmen thought great fault in the Frenche king, ſeeing that for his cauſe the warre had beene attempted betwixt them and England.

William Elphingſton Biſhop of Aberdene, and Lord keeper of the priuie ſeale, departed this life at Edenbourgh. He had bene a faythfull Counſeller to Iames the fourth, by whoſe helpe he founded & endowed the Colledge in the olde towne of Aber|dene, for the encreaſe of learning & vertue, which hath floriſhed with good wittes of ſtudents there euer ſithence euen vnto theſe our dayes.
