This Earle of Dowglas, and William Hay Conneſtable of Scotlãd,Scottiſhe Am|baſſadours ſent into Eng|lande. with Henry Biſhop of Abirden, were ſente Ambaſſadours into Eng|land, to make ſute for ſome agreement to be had, concerning the redemption of King Iames.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Theſe Ambaſſadours behaued themſelues ſo ſagely in this matter whiche they had in charge, that in the end, they brought it to good concluſiõ: As thus, Firſte it was agreed, that King Iames ſhoulde be ſet at libertie,The raunſome of King Iames and to pay for his raun|ſome, ye ſumme of one hundreth thouſand marks ſterling, the one halfe to be payd in hand, and for the other halfe, to leaue ſufficient pledges behinde him, till it were payde.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Albeit ſome writers alledge, that leauing pledges for the payment of the one halfe,Iame daughter to the Earle of Sommerſet married to King Iames the firſte. he was diſcharged of the other, in conſideration that hee toke to wife the Lady Iane, daughter to ye Earle of Sommerſet.
