Compare 1587 edition: 1 Shortly after, by a politik practiſe of the ſame Iohn Cumyn, king Iohn with his ſon Edward Ballyol came to Mountros, where perceyuyng himſelfe vnwyſely fallen into the hands of king Edward, through feare of death which he doub|ted by reaſon of the menacing wordes of king Edward,Iohn Ballyol king of Scot|land reſigneth all his right to king Edward. he ſuffred himſelf to be ſpoyled of al his kingly abilunents, and with a white wande in his hande (as the maner is) preſented himſelf be|fore king Edward, reſigning there vnto him all the right and title which he had to the crowne of Scotland, vtterly renouncing the ſame both for him and his heires for euer.
