Compare 1587 edition: 1 A dreame.He was admoniſhed alſo, (as the report go|eth) in his ſlepe the next night after, that he ſhould buylde an Abbay in the ſame place where thys chaunce happened.Holy Rood houſe builded Wherupon he ſent for work|men into Fraunce and Flaunders, and ſet them in hande to buyld this Abbey of Chanons regu|ler, as he was admoniſhed, dedicating it in the honor of the Croſſe.

The foreſayde Croſſe remayned in this Ab|bey, til the dayes of king Dauid Bruce, who loſt it to the Engliſh men at Durram field where he was takẽ priſoner. But inough of theſe Mõkiſh deuiſes.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Many prudent men blame greatly the vn|meaſurable liberalitie of king Dauid, the which he vſed towardes the Churche,Liberalitie in king Dauid toward the Church re|proued. in diminiſhing ſo hugely the reuenues of the Crowne, beeing the cauſe that manye noble Princes his ſucceſſours haue come to their final endes, for that they haue beene conſtrayned through want of treaſure to mainteyne their royall eſtates, to procure the fall of ſundrie great houſes, to poſſeſſe theyr landes and liuings.
