Compare 1587 edition: 1 Then did Occa create the forenamed Col|gerne duke of Northumberland,Colgern crea|ted Duke of Northumber|lande. who repayring all ſuch Caſtels and ſtrong houſes, as he thought expedient to haue kept, placed in the ſame garri|ſons of ſouldiers, to defend the countrey agaynſt all maner of enimies.

Vter the Brytiſhe king was glad with ſuche as mighte eſcape the enimies hand [...], to withdraw into Wales, leauing the re|ſidue of his Countreys vnto the Saxons, who therevpon recouered not onely the Citie of Lon|don, yeelding it ſelfe vnto them for doubt of ſome long ſ [...]ege, but alſo all thoſe countreys and pro|uinces, whiche Hengiſt the firſt of the Saxons that raigned as king within the boundes of Al|bion at any time, had holden or enioyed, & ceaſſed not after recouerie of the ſame, to vexe and diſ|quiet the Scottes, Brytaynes and Pictes, with continuall incurſions, hoping by ſuch meanes to keepe them ſtill occupied.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 In the middes of this trouble Vter king of the Brytaynes departed this worlde,The death of Vter poiſoned by drinking water of a wel. poyſoned (as ſome haue written) by drinking water taken out of a foũtain, which the Saxons had enuenomed. He died in the yeare after the byrth of our ſauiour 521. and in the xviij. of his owne raigne.521.
