Compare 1587 edition: 1 But when the time came that he ſhould haue ſet forward on that iourney, he heard ſuch newes from the parties of beyonde the Seas, into what ruinous decay the Empyre was fallen, without any likelyhoode of recouerie, that chaunging his purpoſe,Maximianus taketh vpon him the abſo|lute gouernãce of Brytayne, with the Em|perial rytle. he determined to vſurpe the crowne of Brytayne as abſolute king thereof himſelfe, and to haue the more fauour of the Brytiſhe Nation without any impeachment in the beginning of his raigne, he took to wife one of the daughters of Dionethus, being the elder of thoſe two, He marieth Othilia, the daughter of Dionethus. which he only had without iſſue male, by the ſiſter of king Ferguſe.
