Compare 1587 edition: 1 Oſtorius vnderſtanding how the mater wẽt, withdrewe with the reſte of his people vnto his campe: and ſhortly after ſent a Purceuant vnto Rome, to enforme the Emperour in what ſtate things ſtoode in Brytaine, by reaſon of this re|bellion of the Pictes, who neyther by force nor gentle perſwaſions could be pacified.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 The Emperour determining to prouide re|medie therfore, ſent worde againe that he would not that the Pictes ſhoulde be e [...]tſoones receyued vpon theyr ſubmiſſion, if they were driuen to make [...]yte for pardon, but vtterly to be deſtroyed and exterminated. For the accompliſhment whereof, he appoynted two legions of ſuche men of warre as ſoiourned in Fraunce to paſſe ouer into Brytaine.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 But in the meane whyle Oſtorius departed this worlde,Oſtorius dieth whether of his hurtes as the Scot|tiſhe chronicles make mention, or through ſick|neſſe as ſhoulde rather ſeeme by Cornelius Ta|citus, it forceth not.
