[1] Sir Alexander Seiton herevnto aunſwered, that as yet the terme of the truce was not expi|red, and therfore deſyred the King eyther to ob|ſerue the couenauntes, or elſe to deliuer the pled|ges, that he mighte be at his aduauntage: But King Edward (as ſaith the Scottiſh chronicle) immediately cauſed a payre of gallows to bee reyſed afore the towne, and bothe the ſonnes of the ſayde ſyr Alexander to be led thyther, to ſuf|fer on the ſame without further reſpite.
