And nowe when the keepers of the hold were at poynt to haue made ſurrender, a cer|taine Engliſh knight conceiuing in his mind an hardie and daungerous enterpriſe, mounted on a ſwift horſe without armor or weapon, ſauing a ſpeare in his hand, vpon the poynt wherof he bare the keyes of the caſtel, & ſo iſſued forth at ye gates, riding directly towardes the Scottiſh campe.
