Line 73

fæger feorgbold - For the metrical problem in this verse see Context - Metre of the poem. "feorgbold" is an unique compound although both "feorg/h - life, spirit" and "bold - house, dwelling" are elements which occur in a large number of compounds. Maldon 297 has "feorhhos", Guthlac 1003 & 1114 "sawelhos" both of which have a similar meaning to "feorgbold". "banhus" (Beowulf 3147) has a similar sense of "body" but involves the concept of the body as a "house made of bones" rather than as a "house for the spirit/life/soul".
