Line 20 - Swætan

This is the only context in which the verb is translated as "bleed" although the cognate noun "swæt" can refer to blood or sweat/moisture. The ambiguity of the verb captures the symbolism of the blood which represents the "water of life" and in ll.22b-23a one has "wætan/swates gange". Cf. the linking of blood and water in Christ line 1112
