'him' - M&R suggests this is a reflexive pronoun and need not be translated. This though causes confusion as it must then mean (as does M&R's translation) that Wistan, son of þurstan, is also the son of Wigelin. Could Wigelin be his mother? Could the 'bearn' in l. 300 simply mean descendent? Scragg (1981) agrees with the interpretation that both phrases refer to the same man but notes the confusion caused.
