'Æþeldryð on Elig' - Æthelthryth married King Ecgfrith of Northumbria in 660, but resisted consumating the relationship. As Ecgfrith grew more insistent, she became a nun at Coldingham. In 673, she founded a double monastery at Ely where she stayed until her death from a neck-tumour. Her body was discovered uncorrupted seventeen years after her burial. Her sister and successor as abbess of Ely, who is also mentioned by Ælfric here, was St Sexburga.
