'Leofstan' - Abbo describes this Leofstan as a man of very great power (magno potentia viro) and reveals that his father was called Ælfgar. Given Leofstan's eminence, Needham may be right to identify Ælfgar with the ealdorman of East Anglia of that name (d. after 951).
