'wolde geæfenlæcan Cristes gebysnungum' - Edmund follows Christ's instruction to Peter to put away his sword when Judas came to arrest Jesus (John 18.1-11). Abbo's version does not explicitly refer to this parallel, but generally places more emphasis on the Christological aspects of Edmund's behaviour than does Ælfric, likening Edmund to Jesus before Pilate (quasi Christus ante Pilatum).
