Line 743a

'synsnædum' - The first element of this compound has been explained as either sin-, 'perpetual, permanent' (cf. syndolh, 817a) or sin, 'sinful morsels'. Jack argues persuasively for the latter interpretation, on the grounds that blood-drinking is especially proscribed in OE texts. For further discussion, see Robinson 1970, pp. 102-5 (reprinted in Robinson 1993, pp. 143-6).
