'ond kyning mænan' - The manuscript appears to read |cyning mænan. ASPR interprets the vertical line and c as the letter k and prints kyning mænan. This verse needs an extra syllable for its metre to be acceptable, hence ond is supplied. But M-R, following a suggestion made by Sievers, interpret the vertical line as the remnant of the tironian nota for ond (7) and print ond cyning mænan.
