Line 2252a

'gesawon seledream' - Most editors print this, the manuscript reading, despite uncertainty about whether it is a metrically permissable half-line (ge- does not usually occur in this position). One might emend to secga seledream, 'warrior's revelry in hall', parallel to lif. As it stands, gesawon seledream is best understood as a summarising comment on the previous lines, 'they had seen [the last of] the joy in hall'.
