Compare 1587 edition: 1 About the ſame time the Erle of Bothwell,The Earle Bothwell eſca|ped out of priſon. who (vpon diſpleaſure conceyued againſte hym aboute a quarrell betwixte hym, and the Earle of Arrane, hadde bin committed to priſon in Eaſter weeke laſt before paſt) eſcaped out of Dauids Tower in Edenburgh at a window.

In October the Earle of Huntley came with an armye to Cornethie in Mar,The Earle of Huntley ſlayne. where hee was ſlaine, and Iohn Gordon hys ſonne taken pri|ſoner, and broughte to Aberdene the nine and twentith daye of October.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 The Queene ſeemed ſory for the erles death,Iohn Gordon is beheaded. but in Nouember Iohn Gordon was beheaded in Aberdene, and ſhortly after the Queene re|turned [figure appears here on page 598] Southwards, leauing foure Commiſ|ſioners in Aberdene: the Treaſourer, Maiſter Iames Macgill, maiſter Iohn Spens of Cun|dye, and the Larde of Pettarro, to compound for the eſcheites of them that were in the fielde wyth the Earle of Huntley.
