that is to witte .1422. the French King Charles the ſyxt of that name de|ceaſſed, after whome ſucceeded his ſonne Charles the ſeuenth, before named the Dolphin, as the cuſtome there is.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 By the death of theſe Kings, the warres were not altogither ſo earneſtly followed as before, wherevppon the Earles of Buchquhane and Wigtoun returned into Scotlande, and ſhortly after was an army leuyed, and ſiege layde, both to Roxburgh and to Barwike,Roxburgh and Barwike beſeeged. but for that they lay long abroade and did no good, returnyng home withoute gayne, this iourney in deriſion was called the durty rode,The Dyrtin rayde. or as the Scots terme it, the dirtin rayde.
