Compare 1587 edition: 1 Henry Percy then perceyuing his number ſuf|ficient to fyghte with the Dowglas, ſet them in order of battayle, and determined to iſſue foorthe vpon the Scottes,Henry Percy followeth the Scottes. and to giue them an encoun|ter: but when he vnderſtoode that they were gone homewardes, he followed them with all ſpeede, for he would by no meanes that they ſhould paſſe into Scotlande without battayle, truſting to re|couer the diſhonor whiche he had ſuſteyned by lo|ſing his ſtaffe at the barryers before the gate of Newcaſtell.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Earle Dowglas aduertiſed that the enimies were cumming to giue hym battell,The Dowglas exhorteth hys men to fyghte manfully. exhorted his people with fewe words to remember their won|ted manhoode, that by gayning the victory, they might winne interminable fame and honor, with ſafegard to themſelues and their countrey.
