Compare 1587 edition: 1 King Edwarde right ioyfull of the newes, cauſeth his armie to be deuyded into three bat|tayles, EEBO page image 327 and forthwith marcheth on towardes the place where his enimies laye. And comming about Noone dayes within ſight of the Scottes, he perceyued at length that the place whiche they kept was ſo ſtrong, what with the heigth of the ground, and thereto defended on the one ſide with the courſe of a Ryuer, that by no meanes they might bee aſſayled wythout great and manifeſt daunger.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 The Engliſh men in the ende, thought it beſt to chooſe forth a place to encampe in for ye night,The Engliſhe men ſent to the Scottes. and ſo doing ſent an Heralde at armes vnto the Scottes, requyring them to come downe vnto ſome euen grounde where battaile might bee gi|uen:The anſwer of the Scottes. but the Scottes refuſed ſo to doe, alledging that ſithe the Engliſhe men were three to one of them in number, it was no reaſon to wil them to forſake their grounde of aduauntage which they had taken and choſen forth for their own defence.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Thus were they encamped neare togither ey|ther in ſight of other for the ſpace of three nights, euery day ſhewing themſelues in order of battail, without breaking their array, except certain of ye horſmen which on either part now and thẽ came forth & fel in ſkirmiſh, ſo yt ſomtimes a mã might haue ſeene good emptying of ſaddles betwixt thẽ.
