Compare 1587 edition: 1 It is vncertaine whether hee had any know|ledge of the cõming of his brother king Robert,See more of this matter in Irelande. or that through deſire of fame he feared leaſt if he ſtayed till his brother came, a greate parte of the prayſe (if they got the victorie) ſhould remaine to him: and therfore he made ſuch haſt to fight. But howſoeuer it was, thus he was ſlaine the .xiiij. of October, in the yeare 1317.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 Edwarde King of Englande, hearing that K. Robert was paſſed ouer into Ireland, thought the time to ſerue well for his purpoſe, eftſoones to inuade Scotlande: and herevpon comming with a great power to the borders, he purpoſed to haue done ſome great feate: but ſir Iames Dowglas the gouernor hauing likewiſe gathered an army, gaue him battaile, and put both him and his peo|ple to flight.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 In this battail were ſlain three notable Cap|taynes on the Engliſh ſide: as ſir Edmond Ly|law a Gaſcoigne, Captaine of Berwike, with ſir Robert Neuill, and the thirde ſir Iames Dow|glas ſlue with his owne handes.
