Compare 1587 edition: 1 But when they ſawe them riſe againe, and to come forward, they began to be ſomwhat doubt|full.The firſt ioy|ning. And herevpon ruſhing togither, at the firſte ioyning, a great number of people on eyther ſyde were beaten downe and ſlaine. The Archers whiche were arrayed on the vtter ſkirtes of the Engliſh wings, ſore annoyed the Scottes, till fi|nally Edwarde Bruce came on theyr backes with a thouſande Speares, and brake them a|ſunder, in ſuche wiſe that they did but little more hurt that day.

Neuertheleſſe the Scots in ma|ner oppreſſed through the huge multitude of the enimies, were neare at the point to haue bin van|quiſhed.
