Compare 1587 edition: 1 This attempt of the Engliſhe men had mi|niſtred ſufficient occaſion of warre, if the No|bles of Englande (conſidering that the buyl|ding vp of this Caſtell was contrary to theyr bande and promyſed fayth) had not ſlayed the worke, and ſo therevppon that begynning of newe trouble betwixt the Engliſh and Scot|tiſh nations for that preſent ceaſſed.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 In the yeare following,Ambaſſadours forth of France came Ambaſſadors forth of Fraunce into Scotlande, declaring that King Lewes was readie to paſſe for|warde on that iourney whiche hee had taken in hande to make into Iewrie, and therefore de|ſired ayde of King Alexander, to ſupporte hym in thoſe warres agaynſt Gods enimies. With theſe Ambaſſadours were ſent ouer into France,Scottiſh men that went with Lewes king of Fraunce into Egypt. certayne choyſe bandes of men of warre vn|der the leading of Patrike Earle of Marche, Dauyd Lyndſey of Glenneſk, and Walter Stewarde of Dundonalde, three Captaynes of great wiſedome, and perfect experience in feates of chiualrie.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 The moſte part of all thoſe Scottiſhe men that thus went forth in that iourney periſhed, in Egypt eyther on the Sworde or by ſickneſſe, ſo that fewe or none of them returned home a|gayne.
