Compare 1587 edition: 1 Shortly after followed ciuill warres in Scot|lande, by the motion of one Gileſpy Ros,Gileſpy Ros a rebell. who hauing liued moſt lycentiouſly in ryotous out|rage, at length arreared open warre agaynſt the king, and firſt ſlaying diuerſe ſuch of his compa|nions as had kept him companie aforetime in his lewde miſdemeanors, for that they refuſed nowe to ſticke to him in this rebellious enterpriſe, hee went with the reſidue that offred to take his part vnto the towne of Enuernes,Enuernes bur|ned by Gileſ|py Ros. Iohn Cumeyn Earle of Buch|quhane. which he tooke and burned, with diuers other places being of the Kings poſſeſſions, tyll at length Iohn Cumeyn Earle of Buchquhane comming agaynſte hym with an armie deliuered to him by the king, pur|ſued the ſayde Gileſpy in ſuch earneſt wiſe, that finally he tooke him with two of his ſonnes,Gileſpy Ros beheaded. and ſtriking off all their three heades, ſent the ſame to the king as a witneſſe how he had ſped.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 This buſineſſe beeing thus quieted, an other enſued after this maner:New trouble. The men of Cathnes ſore offended with their Biſhop named Adam, for that vpon refuſall to pay theyr tythes, he had accurſed them, fell vppon him within his owne houſe, and firſt ſcourging him with roddes,Adam Biſhop of Cathnes ſlaine by the people of that countrey. at length ſet fire vpon him and brunt him within his owne Kitchen.
