Compare 1587 edition: 1 Sir Alexander Carron.The king ſeeing them thus aſſembled to im|peach his paſſage, ſent his Banner man ſir Alex|ander Carron with a choſen part of his army to paſſe the water,The Rebels are vãquiſhed. and to fight with his enimies, where, by the hardie onſet of the ſayde ſir Alex|ander, they were quickly put to flight, & many of them that were taken in the chaſe, ſuffered death according as they had well deſerued.

Compare 1587 edition: 1 This Alexander Carron alſo for that he was ſeene in the kings ſight that day to fight moſte manfully in ſleaing diuers of the rebelles with a crooked ſworde whiche he had in his hande (of whiche ſort many were vſed in thoſe dayes) he was highly rewarded at the kings handes, and euer after named Skrimgeour,Skrimgeour. that is to meane, an hardie fighter. He had alſo his armes encrea|ſed with a rampaunt Lion holding a crooked ſword, as is to be ſeene in the armes of his poſte|ritie vnto this day.
