The writings of Ephorus of Cyme and Timaeus ofTauromenium, active in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC, are now only known through quotations in later writers, including Diodorus Siculus, who cites them both at the beginning of his Book V, `On the islands', a heading which starts with Sicily but goes on to cover Britain - Diodorus of Sicily III trans. C.H. Oldfather (Loeb, 1952), 96-9 (Book V, 1.3-4).
