Theodoret, bishop of Cyrrhus (d. c. 460). Harrison may have taken this reference (and the one to Sophronius) from Matthew Parker's De antiquitate Britannicae ecclesiae (1572), 2, where both are named in precisely this context. Parker names his source for Theodoret as Book IX of `De curandis graecorum affectionibus', which was published among the latter's Opera omnia as `Graecarum affectionum curatio'. Book IX col. 1038 celebrates the success of Christian missionaries, including fishermen and publicans as well as St Paul, in spreading the gospel among both Romans and barbarians. The latter include Britons, but nothing is said to associate St Paul personally with Britain.
