Presumably a reference to the digging of a new channel in the time of Abbot Ordric, 1052-1066 - J. Hudson (ed. and trans.), Historia Ecclesie Abbendonensis: The history of the church of Abingdon I (Oxford, 2007), 218-19. The same source is cited by Ekwall for the early form of the name of Abingdon. Two manuscripts now survive - BL, MSS Cotton Claudius B.vi and Claudius C.ix - but it is impossible to tell which, if either, of them was consulted by or on behalf of Harrison.
